Fellowship Program Description : The UC San Diego Medical Toxicology Fellowship is a premier fellowship program for emergency physicians to train in this dynamic multidisciplinary specialty. Fellows will develop expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of acutely and chronically poisoned patients via both bedside consultation and phone-based Poison Center calls. They also gain experience as educators and leaders in both Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology through ample teaching and research opportunities. Our Department of Emergency Medicine has numerous other fellowship programs with whom we collaborate to provide unique opportunities for exposure to and participation in other areas such as wilderness medicine, emergency medical services, and hyperbaric medicine. Fellows also maintain their emergency medicine skills throughout fellowship by working as emergency medicine attendings at various sites throughout our health system.
