International Applications
Join ACMT as an International Member
Physicians practicing medical toxicology outside the United States can become part of a global network of experts through International Membership. This membership is designed for professionals who devote a substantial portion of their practice to medical toxicology and meet ACMT’s eligibility criteria. International Members enjoy nearly all the privileges of Full membership—including access to resources, networking opportunities, and educational programs—except voting and holding office. Applicants are required to provide three referrals, including at least one from a current ACMT member.
To qualify, candidates must demonstrate that they:
1. Either (a) practice more than half of their medical toxicology work outside the U.S., or (b) are ineligible for ABMS or AOBEM board certification due to completing training outside the U.S.;
2. Have completed training in a primary specialty equivalent to a U.S. residency program; and
3. Are actively engaged in the practice of medical toxicology.
After four years of International Membership, members may be eligible for the honorary designation of Fellow of the College (FACMT) upon achieving certain professional milestones.
Special Membership for Low- and Lower-Middle-Income Countries
ACMT also offers a reduced annual membership fee for toxicologists in countries defined as low- or lower-middle-income by the World Bank. This ensures access to professional resources and a global network, regardless of financial barriers.
